Meet Sarah Knight, the creative force behind Sundae Sundries. What started as a quest for a fulfilling creative outlet turned into a passionate journey into the world of needle felting. Sarah discovered her love for this craft at a convention class, where the medium of wool instantly resonated with her. Now, through her vibrant creations, Sarah brings a touch of joy and magic to those who encounter her work. From tiny animal earrings to intricate multi-media pieces, Sundae Sundries reflects Sarah’s dedication to transforming imagination into reality.
Interview
What inspired you to start creating/selling your craft?
After years of not finding a creative outlet that ‘clicked,’ I took a needle felting class at a convention. Suddenly, I understood how so many traditional media artists can just look at a blank page and the art just flows—because I have that same feeling when handling wool for needle felting. Whether I’m making the tiniest animal earring or a larger multi-media piece, I love that I can take what is in my brain and make it a reality!
Describe your creative process. How do you get into the ‘zone’ when working on your craft?
I can usually start crafting any time I know I have 10 minutes of downtime, will be sitting, and have my supplies in arm’s reach! I’ve been known to needle felt while watching TV, as the passenger in the car on a long road trip, or even during the occasional long work meeting. It’s a fantastic way for me to keep my hands busy while my mind is engaged elsewhere.
Do you have a favorite or most meaningful piece that you’ve created? What’s the story behind it?
My favorite piece is my first-ever pair of “Roctopus” earrings! I created them to wear to an Umphrey’s McGee show, inspired by their song “Roctopus.” They’re little smiling octopi with music notes all over their heads. Every time I wear them to a show, I get so many compliments, and it really makes me feel great to know I made something that makes people happy.
Who or what influences your work the most?
I am continually influenced by Wolfie of My Arm Can Fly (https://myarmcanfly.net/). She is who I learned from originally, but her creations are so perfect and magical that I know I’ll always be striving to achieve that level of awesome.
Share an interesting or funny story related to your craft or selling experiences.
After creating my first set of Roctopus earrings, I began making additional pairs to sell at Umphrey’s McGee shows. While at the Burlington, Vermont show, I sold a pair to a fellow fan in the crowd. She tracked me down the next night to tell me about how every time she went to the bathroom after putting the earrings in, the smiling octopus faces made her smile too… which was huge for her because just earlier in the month her father had passed away, and it was the first time she saw herself smile after losing her dad. I don’t think I’ve ever been so touched by selling a single pair of earrings before ever.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a vendor for Steel Goat Marketplace?
The community! I am always blown away by how hard everyone works to support each other, whether employees at the Steel Goat or just other vendors—we all want to see everyone succeed in wild and awesome ways!
How do you stay inspired and motivated, especially during challenging times?
I lean on my partners—both my husband and my business partner Kat (of Dapper Hare Designs). They will remind me of all the good stories I’ve heard as a result of my art or just take the strain off for a little bit by helping with a craft or bringing me some food.
Are there any new techniques or materials you’re excited to explore in your craft?
I recently started looking into incorporating non-animal fibers into needle felting (flax and acrylic fibers in particular). These are much harder to work with because these fibers don’t “lock” together the way natural fibers will when felted, so they require much more work to compact and use. However, it introduces a way for me to have options that aren’t animal-based (though wool is sustainable and doesn’t harm the sheep, it isn’t considered vegan). I hope to bring some of these options to my space in 2025 as I learn more about the methods.
If your craft could talk, what do you think it would say about you?
“Oh no! Please stop stabbing me!”
Outside of your craft, what are your other passions or hobbies?
I am an avid Fursuiter—in fact, the reason my business is named “Sundae’s Sundries” is that my main fursuit character (or fursona) is Sundae Possum. I have attended Anthrocon, Pittsburgh’s local Furry Convention, for over 12 years and attend 4-5 additional conventions annually. I am also a very big fan of the band Umphrey’s McGee and go to as many of their shows as I can—I’ve already been to 10 this year with another 7 planned for 2024!
If your craft had a superpower, what would it be and why?
Bringing a smile to faces that really need it.
What’s the weirdest request or custom order you’ve ever received?
An anteater! (I’m still trying to figure out the best way to capture an anteater in wool.)
If your craft were an animal, what animal would it be and why?
A sheep, of course—but one that can morph into any other animal it chooses!
Share a quirky or funny habit you have while working on your craft.
I do my best needle felting to music—the rhythm of the beat helps me keep a steady rhythm felting!
If you could collaborate with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you create together?
Gavin Guile of the Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks—I’d love to see what could be woven from light to add needle felting to—or even just weave in some cool UV patterns into my blacklight reactive items to really make them unique and pop!
What’s the oddest or most unexpected thing that has inspired one of your creations?
I have a watermelon corgi figurine that started out as a pig but just turned into a corgi. The wool created its own image!
Share a memorable moment with a customer that made you smile or laugh.
About six months after I first decided to try selling earrings at Umphrey’s shows, I ran into the person who bought my first-ever pair of earrings at a different show! She showed me how she’d turned the earrings into hair clips so she could have them with her at every show, even the ones she wanted to wear other earrings to.
If you could teleport your craft anywhere in the world for a day, where would you send it and why?
Just outside of Idaho Springs, Colorado, because I love getting to share my work with my parents and teleportation is so much cheaper than plane tickets!

In addition to the Steel Goat Marketplace, you can find me on Etsy and Instagram, where I will announce upcoming concerts and furry conventions I’ll be attending and selling at!

The Interactive Psychic is a passionate and intuitive creator, deeply connected to the metaphysical realm from a young age. Specializing in unique, Magick-infused crafts like scrying mirrors, They blend their spiritual gifts with their dedication to helping others heal and explore their own spiritual paths. Inspired by their late parents and supported by a strong sense of community, they bring a unique and meaningful approach to her craft, offering workshops that reflect their love for teaching and guiding others in their journey of self-discovery.
What inspired you to start creating/selling your craft?
What inspired me to start creating and selling my craft is deeply rooted in my lifelong connection to the metaphysical realm. From a young age, I discovered that I had the ability to communicate with Spirit, which opened up a world of understanding and healing for me. Engaging with the metaphysical field has not only allowed me to connect with others but has also been instrumental in my own self-work and personal growth. Creating and sharing my craft is a way for me to give back and offer the same healing energy that has profoundly impacted my life. It’s a beautiful journey of helping others while continuing to explore my own spiritual path.
Describe your creative process. How do you get into the ‘zone’ when working on your craft?
My creative process is deeply intuitive and involves a lot of meditation. I begin by tapping into the energy surrounding me, both in the physical world and beyond. This connection helps me align with my inspiration and intentions. My goal is always to create something unique—something that you don’t see very often.
As I work, I place myself in the mindset of a curious shopper. I think about what would catch my eye if I were walking through a store. What intriguing item would spark my curiosity and make me question its purpose? What would motivate me to learn something new? This perspective drives my creativity and ensures that each piece I create is not only distinctive but also invites exploration and wonder in those who encounter it.
Do you have a favorite or most meaningful piece that you’ve created? What’s the story behind it?
One of my favorite and most meaningful pieces that I’ve created is the scrying mirrors. The process of crafting these mirrors goes beyond just the physical act of making them; it’s an enchanting ritual that involves using herbs, oils, and charging them under the full moon. This infusion of Magick into each piece transforms them into powerful tools for divination and self-discovery.
Creating these mirrors allows me to practice my craft in a deeply personal way. I believe that Magick is not something to be feared; rather, it’s a natural energy that we all possess. By incorporating this Magick into my scrying mirrors, I’m not only crafting a beautiful object but also inviting the potential for insight and transformation. Each mirror holds its own unique story, and I love knowing that they can serve as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms for those who use them.
Who or what influences your work the most?
My work is influenced by a multitude of sources, both living individuals and guides from the spiritual realm. Among those who inspire me the most are my parents, who are both in Spirit now. They always wanted the best for me in this lifetime, and knowing that they are around, watching over me, and witnessing the positive impact I strive to make in the lives of others truly motivates me.
Their love and support from the Spirit world continue to guide me, reminding me of the importance of compassion and connection. I often draw strength from their presence, and it fuels my desire to create meaningful pieces that resonate with people on a deeper level. Their influence is a constant reminder that my work can serve as a bridge between worlds, fostering healing and inspiration for those who encounter it.
Share an interesting or funny story related to your craft or selling experiences.
I have plenty of interesting stories from my experiences in the public domain, and I’d like to share one that highlights the diversity of perspectives I encounter. With complete transparency, I want to clarify that my intention is not to offend anyone but to educate.
When I sell my cards, I sometimes come across individuals who don’t quite understand the concept or the belief systems behind them. This can lead to some strange looks or even comments that leave me feeling a bit uncomfortable. It’s always intriguing to see the varied reactions people have to something they’re unfamiliar with.
The reality is that we are all spiritual beings having a human experience, and some individuals are still navigating their own journey toward higher consciousness. Each soul has its own lessons to learn, and sometimes that journey involves a sense of disconnection from spiritual truths.
When I encounter these reactions, I simply wish those individuals well on their path. I understand that this moment in time may not be when they’re open to connecting with that deeper awareness. It’s a reminder of the diverse experiences we all have, and that every interaction can serve as an opportunity for growth and understanding, even if it feels a bit strange in the moment!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a vendor for Steel Goat Marketplace?
The most rewarding aspect of being a vendor at Steel Goat Marketplace, especially as someone who just joined the herd, is undoubtedly the sense of community. I’ve already met some incredible people and am forming meaningful friendships that truly enrich my experience here. The warm welcome I’ve received makes me feel like I genuinely belong, which is invaluable.
I’ve always been someone who values hard work, and it’s inspiring to see that same dedication reflected in others within the herd. While there are many individuals I admire for their commitment, I must highlight how rewarding it is to have Casper supporting us all. His tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to our collective success create a positive atmosphere that elevates the entire marketplace. I can feel the energy he invests in us, and that sense of stability and support enhances my experience as a vendor, making it all the more fulfilling to be part of this vibrant community.
How do you stay inspired and motivated, especially during challenging times?
Staying inspired and motivated, especially during challenging times, is something I navigate just like anyone else—I’m human and have my share of ups and downs. One of my greatest sources of motivation comes from the strong connections I have with my friends and family. Their support is invaluable, and I cherish the encouragement they provide.
I’m also engaged to an amazing man, Dennis, who is my biggest fan. His unwavering belief in me and his ability to lift me up when I’m feeling down is incredibly motivating. Whenever I face obstacles, his encouragement reminds me of my strengths and helps me regain my focus. Together, we create a positive environment that fosters resilience and inspiration, allowing me to push through challenging times and stay on track with my goals.
Are there any new techniques or materials you’re excited to explore in your craft?
While I may not be exploring new techniques or materials in terms of what I sell, I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to begin hosting workshops at Steel Goat Marketplace. Teaching others is where I truly shine, and I’ve received wonderful feedback about my workshops being special. I wholeheartedly believe in the value they bring.
I’m thrilled to introduce a different and interactive approach to workshops, allowing participants to engage in hands-on activities and connect with the material in meaningful ways. It’s an opportunity to share my passion and knowledge while fostering a supportive learning environment. I can’t wait to inspire others and help them tap into their own creativity and intuition!
If your craft could talk, what do you think it would say about you?
If my craft could talk, I imagine it would say something like, “This person is such a perfectionist, and it drives us crazy to be worked on so much!” It would likely express a mix of admiration and exasperation at my meticulous attention to detail. I pour my heart and soul into every piece, striving for excellence, which sometimes leads to a bit of a back-and-forth as I refine and polish each creation. Ultimately, I think it would appreciate my dedication and passion, even if it occasionally finds my perfectionism a little overwhelming!
Outside of your craft, what are your other passions or hobbies?
Outside of my craft, I have a deep passion for helping people, which aligns beautifully with my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I truly enjoy guiding individuals as they explore their shadow selves and navigate their personal journeys toward healing and self-discovery.
In addition to my counseling work, I have a love for adventure and exploration. I’m an avid fan of road trips, especially to haunted locations, where I can immerse myself in the thrill of the unknown. I also enjoy wandering through antique shops in search of unique oddities—there’s something magical about uncovering hidden treasures from the past. And when fall rolls around, you’ll find me eagerly visiting haunted houses, fully embracing the Halloween spirit. In fact, I live for Halloween all year long! It’s a delightful blend of my interests that fuels my creativity and sense of wonder.
If you could collaborate with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you create together?
If I could collaborate with any fictional character, it would definitely be Sam from the movie Trick ‘r Treat! He’s my boy! Together, we would create something delightfully spooky that captures the essence of Halloween. I can envision us crafting a series of enchanting and eerie decorations that blend his whimsical yet creepy charm with my unique style. Perhaps we’d make interactive items that tell stories of Halloween traditions, or even a collection of playful yet haunting charms that celebrate the spirit of the season. With Sam by my side, our collaboration would undoubtedly bring a touch of magick and mischief to the world!
If your craft were a movie genre, which genre would it belong to and what would the title be?
Horror: “There’s some Horrors in this Haus!” Shadow work, exploring the deepest, darkest parts of yourself can be truly horrifying, but healing follows that.
What’s your favorite ‘happy dance’ song to celebrate a successful creation or sale?
Marry the Night by Lady GaGa
Share a memorable moment with a customer that made you smile or laugh.
A recent memorable moment with a customer that truly made me smile happened during a workshop I hosted at a different venue, not at the marketplace. Unfortunately, the stars didn’t align—I signed up late, and there wasn’t much time for marketing. As a result, only one person showed up
Thank you for joining us in this insightful conversation with The Interactive Psychic. At Steel Goat Marketplace, we’re thrilled to showcase the talents of our diverse group of vendors, each bringing their unique flair to the marketplace. Today, we sit down with the creative force behind Dapper Fox Florals & Antiques, a vendor who blends a love for florals and vintage collectibles into something truly special. Let’s explore the story, inspiration, and artistry that defines this one-of-a-kind shop.
What inspired you to start creating/selling your craft?
As someone deeply rooted in the garden field and a Penn State Master Gardener, I’ve always had an appreciation for how flowers and plants grow throughout the seasons. This connection to nature inspired me to create florals that mirror the beauty of each season. On the other hand, my passion for collecting vintage glassware and dishware led me to share these treasures with others. My collection grew so much that I had to make room at home, and I found joy in knowing that each piece I sell will be loved and enjoyed by someone else.
Describe your creative process. How do you get into the ‘zone’ when working on your craft?
When I’m creating florals, I draw inspiration from what’s blooming around me at the moment. I pay attention to the colors, textures, and forms of the plants in my environment. For custom orders, I take time to talk with the customer, understanding the mood or feeling they want their floral arrangement to convey. This connection with nature and with my customers helps me get into the ‘zone’ and create something truly special.
Do you have a favorite or most meaningful piece that you’ve created? What’s the story behind it?
Creating cemetery pieces is always a deeply moving experience for me. Each piece is a tribute to the love and memory of someone special, and I strive to capture that emotion in my work. One piece that stands out was a cemetery bouquet vase I made for Halloween. It was a first for me, and the customer wanted something fun and spirited, with elements like jack-o’-lanterns and skeletons. The story behind it was so touching—Halloween was his mother’s favorite holiday, and he wanted to honor her memory in a way that reflected her personality. When he picked up the vase dressed in a Freddie Krueger costume, we both had a good laugh, and it was clear how much joy the piece brought him.
Who or what influences your work the most?
The love of nature is a constant influence in my floral designs, while the joy of entertaining with family and friends inspires my selection of vintage dishware and glassware. Both aspects of my work reflect a deep appreciation for beauty, whether it’s found in nature or in the cherished memories created around a table.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a vendor for Steel Goat Marketplace?
The most rewarding part is seeing the wonder on customers’ faces as they explore the marketplace. Steel Goat is a treasure trove of unique items, and I love being part of a community that celebrates creativity. It’s especially gratifying when customers tell me that Steel Goat is their “happy place,” and they’re just taking their time to find that perfect “must-have” item. Being able to interact with them and see how much joy our offerings bring is truly fulfilling.
Outside of your craft, what are your other passions or hobbies?
Gardening at home is a major passion of mine, as well as cooking for friends. I love setting a fun table with beautiful vintage pieces, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves.
If your craft had a superpower, what would it be and why?
The superpower would be the ability to make everything bright and cheery. Whether it’s through vibrant floral arrangements or charming vintage glassware, I want my creations to bring a smile to people’s faces.
What’s the weirdest request or custom order you’ve ever received?
The Halloween Cemetery Bouquet Vase definitely stands out as the most unusual request. It was a challenge to balance the spooky elements with the sentiment of a memorial piece, but it turned out to be one of the most rewarding projects I’ve done.
If your craft were an animal, what animal would it be and why?
A cat, for sure! Cats are adaptable, independent, and love to find a comfy spot—qualities that resonate with both my creative process and the charm of my vintage finds.
Share a memorable moment with a customer that made you smile or laugh.
The Halloween vase story is unforgettable. My customer showing up in a Freddie Krueger costume in the middle of the week, just to pick up his order, was a moment that had us both laughing. It was such a fun and unexpected way to bring a little extra joy to the experience.

What inspired you to start creating/selling your craft?
As an artist and a Penn State Master Gardener of Westmoreland County, I’m constantly on the lookout for unique and interesting items to enhance my garden. After experimenting with various prototypes for a year, I finally developed my Garden Art Poles. They not only reflect my passion for gardening but also serve as a beautiful addition to any outdoor space.
Do you have a favorite or most meaningful piece that you’ve created? What’s the story behind it?
One of my most meaningful creations was a church birdhouse that I discovered while browsing Facebook Marketplace. My dear cousin was undergoing chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, and her family organized a fundraiser in her honor. I decided to use this unique church birdhouse for the fundraiser. It turned out beautifully and raised a significant amount of money at the Chinese auction. Knowing that something I created could bring so much joy and contribute to such an important cause made it incredibly special.
Who or what influences your work the most?
My garden and the vibrant flowers within it are my greatest sources of inspiration. Every piece I create is a reflection of the beauty I find in nature.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a vendor for Steel Goat Marketplace?
The most rewarding part is knowing that Steel Goat Marketplace truly cares about my work. They’re always offering new ideas to help me improve my space and increase sales. It’s also a perfect fit since Steel Goat has a nursery, and my products are all garden-inspired or made specifically for the garden.
How do you stay inspired and motivated, especially during challenging times?
Fortunately, I haven’t struggled with inspiration or motivation. My love for painting keeps me going. I can’t imagine a day where I don’t paint.
If your craft could talk, what do you think it would say about you?
I think my craft would say that I genuinely care for each piece and that I take the time to make each one unique and special.
Outside of your craft, what are your other passions or hobbies?
Gardening, of course! It’s where my creativity takes root.
If your craft had a superpower, what would it be and why?
It would have the power to protect nesting birds from predators like other birds, squirrels, and snakes. My creations are meant to be a safe and beautiful home for them.
What’s the weirdest request or custom order you’ve ever received?
Once, I was asked to paint a birdhouse with a turtle and a bunny. The customer’s mother had both animals as pets, and they lived freely in the house. The customer even mentioned that her mother loved those animals more than she did! It was definitely one of the more unusual requests I’ve received.
If your craft were an animal, what animal would it be and why?
A bird, naturally! My work is designed for birds, and I’d like to think that any bird would be thrilled to call one of my birdhouses home.
Share a memorable moment with a customer that made you smile or laugh.
One of my favorite moments is when someone sees my work for the first time. Their face lights up with a smile, or they stand there, mouth agape, just taking it all in. I don’t even need to make a sale—seeing that reaction makes everything worth it.
